Pam Mitchell was faced with a terrible decision: have her foot amputated or die. At least, that's what the doctors told her. But Pam had heard about another option for her condition: a treatment using sterilized blowfly larva. Or, in other words, maggots. Read the story of a woman who was brave enough to stand up to an entire medical community for an unconventional treatment she believed would save her life. Pam's story and eventual recovery will have you cheering and crying. Daunting medical problems challenged Pam's entire life: diabetes at age ten; laser eye surgery at age twenty-five; a kidney transplant at twenty-eight. Her final challenge, however, was to try to save her own life by using a highly unconventional treatment involving blowfly larva, or maggots. Not only was Pam victorious in her battle, but she fully recovered from her condition. Today, Pam is involved full-time with encouraging, educating, and praying for others with similar conditions. * * * Faye Landrum is a retired registered nurse and has been a freelance writer since 1969.
